The major oil related frictional losses in an automotive or heavy duty truck engine occur in the boundary (metal-to-metal contact) lubricated areas of the engine, especially at or near top dead center of the piston stroke where the piston rings press against the cylinder wall and in the valve train area (where metal-to-metal contact occurs).

Some of the energy produced when fuel is combusted is used to overcome frictional losses, thereby increasing the amount of energy required to make the vehicle move forward resulting in lost fuel economy.

The Technology

The Synergyn® Engine Treatment contains a graphene nano-colloidal additive chemistry which, when incorporated into your engines oil, produces a thin protective tribofilm on the engine surfaces under boundary lubrication conditions. This tribofilm, produced under high contact pressure on the boundary lubricated parts of the engine causes a modification of metal surfaces. Synergyn reduces friction between the contacting metal engine surfaces, reducing wear and improving miles per gallon performance.

In those areas of the engine where metal-to-metal contact occurs and where temperatures are hot, (near top dead center of the piston stroke) a chemical reaction occurs between the referred to surface film and the metal surfaces producing a chemically modified metal surface. This chemically modified surface has different mechanical properties (reduced number of and less hard surface asperities) than the original surface, resulting in lower friction and wear between contacting metal surfaces (piston rings and cylinder wall). Therefore, to sum up, in the boundary lubricated areas of the engine, the positively charged nano-particles of chemistry becomes attached to the metal surfaces, becoming an integral part of the surface through a subsequent chemical reaction.

Synergyn® XTrA MPG™ Diesel Fuel Saver

There are three ways to improve fuel related fuel economy in both gasoline and diesel engines, namely, (1) increase the combustion efficiency of the fuel, (2) remove the fuel system deposits which have formed with increasing miles driven / maintain a clean fuel system, especially clean fuel injectors in the case of diesel engines and (3) reduce friction between the rings and the cylinder wall at or near top dead center of the piston stroke.

Synergyn® XTrA MPG™ Diesel Fuel Saver Formula consists of a highly refined and chemically treated white mineral oil, which includes a combustion improver chemistry. The key to Synergyn® XTrA MPG™ formula’s fuel combustion efficiency enhancement and greenhouse gas emissions reduction activity is a potent, unique, non-metallic catalyst. The catalyst makes it easier for the air/fuel combustion reaction to occur. It lowers the energy required for chemically converting the air and the fuel in the combustion chamber to Power, CO2 and water (H2O). Since less energy is required (less fuel needed) for combustion efficiency with Synergyn® helps remove the injector deposits. This leads to "recovery" of the optimum fuel spray angle/mixing with the air coming into the combustion chamber resulting in "recovered’ fuel economy /power and emissions benefits. In engines which have not accumulated many miles and where deposits have not had a chance to build-up, the enhanced combustion efficiency provided by the Synergyn® Chemistry converts more of the hydrocarbon (HC) fuel to CO2 and combustion to occur, combustion efficiency/fuel economy is increased and combustion chamber temperature is reduced. Because the production of NOX increases with increasing combustion chamber temperature, less NOX is produced. Also, even though there is a greater conversion of CO to CO2 and HC to H2O and CO2 per combustion cycle (due to increased combustion efficiency), overall, less fuel is consumed and therefore, less CO2 is produced. Therefore, by employing a unique, non-metallic catalyst in the combustion chamber, more fuel economy/power and less CO, CO2 and NOX are produced (CO2 and NOX are greenhouse gases).

In addition to its immediate combustion enhancement benefits, the Synergyn® chemistry also has a carbon deposit cleanup and "keep clean" capability that provides additional, "recovered fuel economy/power" and emissions benefits over time (miles driven). Both in gasoline and in diesel engines, using untreated fuel (including ULSD), carbon deposits build up on the tips of the fuel injectors, with increasing miles driven, leading to a distortion of the fuel spray angle. This leads too less efficient mixing of the fuel/air mixture in the combustion chamber, resulting in poorer fuel economy/power output and increased emissions. When the Synergyn® Formula is used in either gasoline or diesel fuel, in engines where carbon deposits have previously built up on the injectors (from fuel alone), the increased H2O and not to carbon deposits. This leads to a "keep clean" capability for the Synergyn® Formula.

In the boundary (metal-to-metal contact) areas of the engine, especially where the piston rings contact the cylinder wall at or near top dead center of the piston stroke, some of the Synergyn® XTrA MPG™ chemistry in the fuel survives the combustion process and leaks past the rings (blowby). This adds to the fuel economy benefits by reducing the friction between contacting piston ring and cylinder wall surfaces.

9-22% MPG Increase in Class 8 Trucks

18 to 22% MPG increase in Long Distance Trucks by Elite Transportation

Elite Transportation, a long haul trucking company, achieved an 18-22% mileage improvement over a 3,200 mile test in a Class 8, 18-wheel truck in under actual operations conditions. Elite is proceeding with a larger three truck test.

9% MPG Increase in two Kenworth T800s by a Canadian Trucking Company

Synergyn® Engine Treatment and Synergyn® XTrA MPG™ Diesel Fuel Saver were tested by a Canadian trucking company in two 2013 Kenworth T800s with 550 horsepower ISX-Cummins motors. Both were running Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel and had EGR and double stacks. The trucks had about 125,000 and 225,000 miles, respectively, at the beginning of the test. Miles were primarily highway with up to 800 miles covered daily. Loads ranged up to 55,000 pounds.

The operator established baselines and conducted the test as follows:

Truck 12116: The baseline miles per gallon was established over three weeks in September 2013 - covering 2,367 miles, and the test period ran for the succeeding five weeks covering 14,725 miles.

Truck 12106: The baseline was established during the first two weeks in December, and the test ran for the succeeding three weeks covering 8,507 miles.

The results are presented below:

Mileage increased during the test period by a combined 9.1%.

19% MPG increase in City of Houston Waste Haulers

The City of Houston achieved 19.2% mileage increase in waste haulers. The test ran for 4,500 miles (base and test) in two vehicles. Waste Haulers are used in stop-and-go residential pick-up with a typical mpg of 1.6 - 2.0.
