More than just fuel savings

Synergyn® Engine Treatment is a surface conversion technology that provides an anti-friction layer of protection, reducing friction and wear in the metal-to-metal (boundary) lubricated parts of the engine (piston/cylinder area, at top and bottom of the piston stroke and in the valve train). The mechanism by which Synergyn® Engine Treatment forms the “anti-friction layer of protection” is as follows: Because electrons have a negative charge and on a metal surface are “floating” electrons and move freely on the surface, electrons produce negative sites on the metal surface where they travel to and positive sites where they leave. Most important, Synergyn® contains positively charged chemical functionality which is strongly attracted to the negative sites on the metal surface, leading to a strong surface film. Further, in those areas of the engine where metal-to-metal contact occurs and where temperatures are hot, (near top dead center of the piston stroke) a chemical reaction occurs between the referred to surface film and the metal surfaces producing a chemically modified metal surface. This chemically modified surface has different mechanical properties (reduced number of and less hardsurface asperities) than the original surface, resulting in lower friction and wear between contacting metal surfaces (piston rings and cylinder wall).

Therefore, to sum up, in the boundary lubricated areas of the engine, the positively charged nano-particles attach to the metal surfaces, becoming an integral part of the metal surface through a subsequent chemical reaction. Also, as stated earlier, the Chemistry serves as a catalyst in the engines combustion chamber that allows the air/fuel combustion reaction to proceed at much lower energy input and temperatures, leading to more efficient combustion, improved fuel economy/power and reduced greenhouse emissions.

Diesel Fuel Saver

Synergyn® Diesel Fuel Saver is a combustion enhancing chemistry containing a potent catalyst that lowers the energy (activation energy) required for combustion of the air/fuel mixture. This speeds up the combustion process, thus releasing more of the work energy from the fuel sooner. This, in turn, allows a vehicle to move further with the same quantity of fuel consumed, resulting in greater miles traveled per gallon of fuel or greater fuel economy. In addition, the lower energy required for combustion, results in more efficient burning of the fuel and lower combustion chamber temperatures, both leading to reduced harmful greenhouse emissions. There are three ways to improve fuel related fuel economy in both gasoline and diesel engines, namely, (1) increase the combustion efficiency of the fuel, (2) remove the fuel system deposits which have formed with increasing miles driven/ maintain a clean (keep clean) fuel system, especially, clean fuel injectors in the case of diesel engines and (3) reduce friction between the rings and the cylinder wall at or near top dead center of the piston stroke.

Synergyn® Diesel Fuel Saver is a combustion enhancing and emissions reduction technology that consists of a highly refined white mineral oil, which includes proprietary combustion enhancing chemistry. The key to Synergyns’ fuel combustion efficiency enhancement and greenhouse gas emissions reduction activity is a potent, unique, non-metallic catalyst. The catalyst makes it easier for the air/fuel combustion reaction to occur. It lowers the energy required for chemically converting the air and the fuel in the combustion chamber to Power, CO2 and water (H2O).

Since less energy is required (less fuel needed) for combustion to occur, combustion efficiency/fuel economy is increased and combustion chamber temperature is reduced. Because the production of NOx increases with increasing combustion chamber temperature, less NOx is produced. Also, even though there is a greater conversion of CO to CO2 and HC to H2O per combustion cycle (due to increased combustion efficiency), overall, less fuel is consumed and therefore, less CO2 is produced. Therefore, by employing a unique, non-metallic catalyst in the combustion chamber, more fuel economy/power and less CO, CO2 and NOx are produced (CO2 and NOx are toxic EPA regulated greenhouse gases).

In addition to its immediate combustion enhancement benefits, the Synergyn® chemistry also has a carbon deposit clean up and “keep clean” capability that provides additional, “recovered fuel economy/power” and emissions benefits over time (miles driven). Both in gasoline and in diesel engines, using untreated fuel (including ULSD), and carbon deposits build up on the tips of the fuel injectors, with increasing miles driven, leading to a distortion of the fuel spray angle. This leads to less efficient mixing of the fuel/air mixture in the combustion chamber, resulting in poorer fuel economy/power output and increased emissions. When the Synergyn® Diesel Fuel Formula is used in diesel fuel, in engines where carbon deposits have previously built up on the injectors (from fuel alone), the increased combustion efficiency with Synergyn® helps remove the injector deposits.

This leads to “recovery” of the optimum fuel spray angle/mixing with the air coming into the combustion chamber resulting in “recovered’ fuel economy /power and emissions benefits. In engines which have not accumulated many miles and where deposits have not had a chance to build-up, the enhanced combustion efficiency provided by the Synergyn® Chemistry converts more of the hydrocarbon (HC) fuel to CO2 and H2O and not to carbon deposits. This leads to a “keep clean” capability for the Synergyn® Formula.

In the boundary (metal-to- metal contact) areas of the engine, especially where the piston rings contact the cylinder wall at or near top dead center of the piston stroke, some of Synergyns’ chemistry in the fuel survives the combustion process and leaks past the rings (blowby). This adds to the fuel economy benefits by reducing the friction between contacting piston ring and cylinder wall surfaces.

Synergyn®: The Science

Adding the Synergyn® Diesel SuperFuel Fuel Saver Formula to diesel fuel enhances the combustion efficiency of ULSD, as confirmed by independent laboratory testing. The Synergyn® additive is a combustion enhancing chemistry which lowers the energy required for combustion of the fuel to occur, producing a faster burn and generating more energy and power sooner than the ULSD alone.

As sulfur was removed over the years to achieve today’s Ultra-Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD) fuels, ingredients that provided natural lubrication were removed. The blended ULSD fuels reduced the negative environmental effects of sulfur but engine parts; particularly parts like fuel pumps and injectors were subjected to premature wear.

Synergyn® XTrA MPG™ Diesel chemistry restores lubrication to ULSD and provides wear protection to internal engine components. As a result, friction is reduced between surfaces, which extend the life of fuel pumps, injectors and other components. It’s an economical fuel economy and emission reduction solution for ultra-low sulfur fuels.

Deployment Strategy

First, you’ll need to decide if on-site testing is right for you. Many of our customers find enough information in our test library to meet their needs. As you will see we have already conducted tests on many types of generators. If your needs do call for testing, then we will be happy to support you and look forward to adding your findings to our test library. We also have test instruments that can support your testing needs if necessary.

After the decision to treat with Synergyn® has been made, our generator customers choose to use automatic dosing equipment so they can be sure that fuel coming out of their storage tanks is properly treated with Synergyn®. Our dispensing units fit in line with the fuel line to your storage tanks and require no electricity to operate. Our units pump the right amount of Synergyn® when the fuel storage tank is being filled and are operated by the flow of fuel in the fuel line. We have made units to fit in line with 4 inch, 6 inch, and 8-inch fuel lines. No matter what your circumstances are we have the capabilities to make a dispensing unit to meet all of your needs.

Once the dosing equipment is in place and we have installed a Synergyn® storage container to meet your fuel usage profile, we will set up a program to have Synergyn® shipped to you. We can ship in 55-gallon drums or larger totes up to 800 gallons (3000 liters). Once the tote arrives at your facility, it can easily be stacked on top of your fixed Synergyn® storage container and drained from the shipment tote into your Synergyn® storage container.

If your power requirements are smaller, then small systems dosing units may be appropriate for you. Our smaller dosing units can be mounted on your equipment and you’ll only need to refill the tank once for every 10,000 gallons of fuel you use.

The active ingredient in Synergyn® has been used since 1944 and has never damaged an engine of any type or size in any way. Scientific testing from independent laboratories further confirms that Synergyn® does not alter fuel specifications in any way. Synergyn® will not void the warranty on your equipment. Synergyn® is listed as a non-flammable liquid for shipping within North America and does not contain chemicals that would make your fuel hazardous or corrosive to your engines.
